How sessions work
Sessions last 60 minutes. The approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — practical, evidence-based tools, adapted with play therapy for younger children.
You can meet in person at our office in central Santa Cruz (Calle Pari, two blocks from Plaza 24 de Septiembre — see location and directions) or online via Google Meet or Zoom from anywhere in the world, with scheduling that respects your time zone.
Your first session, step by step
The first appointment is an initial assessment — and you don't need to prepare anything. We spend most of the hour listening: what brings you here, how long you have been feeling this way, what you have already tried, and how it is affecting your daily life — sleep, work, school, relationships. Before the session ends, you get a first clinical impression and we agree together on a concrete work plan: how many sessions we estimate, how often, and which goals we will pursue.
There is no rushed diagnosis and no medication prescribed in session — CBT works with psychological tools. If your situation calls for a psychiatric evaluation, we refer you to a trusted colleague and coordinate the follow-up.
A real local practice — not an app
Global therapy platforms have made “therapy in English” easy to find, but they often mean a rotating roster of providers and a subscription model. We offer something different: one licensed psychologist who knows you, session after session — with the option to sit in the same room when you are in Santa Cruz, and to continue online when you travel or move. Local, transparent fees in bolivianos, official invoices, and a registered professional (R.P.) with the Bolivian college of psychologists.
The practice was founded by Mg. Junisse Montaño (Master's in Clinical and Health Psychology, ISEP Barcelona) and is run by a team of three psychologists with two consultation offices in the same building in central Santa Cruz — a calm, private space designed for therapy, two blocks from Plaza 24 de Septiembre.
Who is therapy in English for?
Living between languages and cultures brings its own challenges — and therapy works best in the language you feel in. Therapy in English is a natural fit if you are:
- An expat or international professional living in Santa Cruz or elsewhere in Bolivia
- A mixed-language couple who wants to work on the relationship in English
- Parents whose children study in English and express their emotions in it
- A Bolivian returning home after years abroad, more at ease in English
- An English speaker anywhere in the world looking for affordable, professional therapy online
- A teenager who switches between languages and needs a therapist who can follow
Time zones are easy from Bolivia. We are on GMT−4 with no daylight saving changes: that is the same clock as the US East Coast for most of the year, one hour ahead of Bogotá and Lima, and four to six hours behind most of Europe — morning sessions in Santa Cruz line up naturally with afternoons in Madrid or London.
Fees

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the therapy conducted entirely in English?
Yes. Sessions with psychologist Jazmín Villazón are held fully in English — not just casual conversation, but the complete therapeutic process. She also works in Spanish, so bilingual families are welcome.
Do you see adults, or only children?
Both. Jazmín specializes in child and adolescent psychology (play therapy, emotional regulation, ADHD, school challenges) and also welcomes adults for individual therapy in English.
Do you offer couples therapy in English?
Yes. Jazmín also works with couples in English — including mixed-language couples where one partner is more comfortable in English. A couples session lasts 60 minutes and costs 300 Bs, the same fee as our Spanish-language couples sessions.
Can I get a receipt for my international insurance?
Yes. We issue official invoices (factura with NIT) under Bolivian law for every session. Many international health plans reimburse out-of-network mental health care with this documentation — check the terms of your specific policy.
Can I choose between in-person and online sessions?
Yes. You can visit our office in central Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Calle Pari, two blocks from Plaza 24 de Septiembre) or meet online via Google Meet or Zoom from anywhere in the world. Online scheduling takes your time zone into account — Bolivia is GMT−4 year-round.
How much does a session cost, and how can I pay from abroad?
An individual 60-minute session costs 190 Bs, and a 4-session package is available at 650 Bs — the same fees as our Spanish-language sessions. From abroad we accept international bank transfers and Western Union; within Bolivia, QR payments.
